Divine Appointments & Daily Distractions
8-29-2010
I have to learn the difference between a divine appointment and a daily distraction. Every day Satan sends distractions my way of things that are urgent, but not really that important. So, how do you know the difference between a divine appointment and a daily distraction? Well, you have to ask God for wisdom because they look a lot alike. So when those interruptions come my way I want to say, "God, is this of You?" Is this a divine appointment that I don't want to miss or is this just the devil's distraction? You have to pray about it because they look a lot alike. The secret to success is knowing the difference between a divine appointment and the devil's distractions from your priorities. But also ask, "Is this a chance to make a difference in someone's life or is this something that's keeping me from making a difference in someone's life? For example, if you are working on a major project at work and a co-worker comes into your office and interrupts you and starts gossiping about the boss, that's probably one of the devil's distractions to keep you from doing what you need to be doing. But, on the other hand, if you are working on a major project at work and a co-worker interrupts you and comes in and says, "I don't know what to do. My wife wants to leave me.", that's probably a divine appointment where you can minister. We need to tell the difference between the two because there are so many distractions that come our way. God wants you to look for those interruptions. When I plan my schedule, but allow God to interrupt me, I don't sweat it. I surrender to them and somehow He takes care of everything.
